What is the difference between Balance, Equity, Margin, Free Margin, and Margin Level Percentage?

  • Balance: Balance refers to the entire value of the account. 
  • Equity: Equity is the value of your trading account after your open positions are deducted or added.  
  • Margin: Margin refers to the amount that you have invested in your open trades.
  • Free Margin: Free margin is the amount of money you can withdraw. 
  • Margin Level Percentage (%): The bigger your Margin Level Percentage, the safer your account. If the Margin Level Percentage drops to 20% your account is being depleted.
